Help Those Affected by Hurricane Harvey

The devastation left by Hurricane Harvey has displaced tens of thousands of residents along the Texas coastline and early damage estimates are reaching as high as $190 billion, making it the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.

Now, with Hurricane Irma, the strongest hurricane ever recorded over the Atlantic Ocean leaving thousands more bracing for impact, we can only anticipate growing urgency.

REALTORS® in Canada have proven when disasters strike, they are keen on helping during the greatest time of need.

Our neighbours south of the border at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) are asking members to donate to its registered charitable organization, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, with 100% of donations going directly to whatever the victims need most – whether its food, water or shelter.

As a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), you can help in their fundraising efforts, too, by donating what you can through their secure online form.

Our American friends have been there for us when we’ve needed them. When the Alberta wildfires raged through Fort McMurray last year, NAR contributed $250,000 to relief efforts.

During the 2013 flooding in Calgary that forced the evacuation of 75,000 people – the largest evacuation ever for Calgary – NAR helped by raising $50,000 for victims.

We’re asking you to donate what you can to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation to show our solidarity with NAR.

*Please note: Since this is a U.S. charity, Canadian tax receipts cannot be provided.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ralph Fyfe
Chair, REALTORS Care®
