Tomorrow, Toronto and Peel Region will join most of Ontario in Stage 3 of Ontario’s reopening framework. For real estate, that means open houses are now permitted in these regions.
While Members in these areas can begin hosting open houses again with safety precautions in place, we recommend advising your clients to continue using virtual open houses, virtual showings or in-person safe showings first and to the greatest extent possible. Open houses should be used as a last resort to market a home and only employed at a seller’s request and with the seller’s approval and in accordance with all applicable health directives. If your clients insist on hosting an open house, we have put together guidance to help you do it safely. OREA’s Stage 3 Guidance for Real Estate Transactions includes best practices for organizing and hosting open houses if necessary. It is OREA’s number one priority to protect the health and safety of our REALTORS® and their clients. As we move into Stage 3 of Ontario’s Framework for Reopening the Province, we trust that our Members will continue to put health and safety first while doing what you have always done best – helping Ontarians achieve the dream of a great place to call home. Thank you for your support and please email us with any questions or comments. Sincerely,
